About Accessible Communication Services

Accessible Communication Services is here to meet the diverse needs of the Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing and hearing communities. Our mission is to make information clear, direct, easy to understand and accessible to all.

We strive to ensure members of the Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing communities have access to communication and information in all aspects of their lives. These communities are often left out and have the least access to communication in many contexts. Over the past few months, we have added services and continue to grow in order to evolve alongside our community’s ever-changing needs. Accessible Communication Services includes Interpreting Services, Captioning, Translation, Plain Language and Audio Description.

  • Our Interpreting Services, including Community Interpreting Services (CIS) and Medical Interpreting Services (MIS), help to facilitate communication for people who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing who are American Sign Language (ASL) users.
  • Captioning service provides persons with hearing loss with the text version of verbal content.
  • Translation service is for anyone who is interested in making their communication accessible in ASL.
  • Plain Language service is where we take written information that is complex and make it easier to understand to reach a more diverse audience.
  • The Described Video service (also known as “audio description”) takes content of a video to make it accessible to people who are low-vision and blind.

We will continue to maintain our community focus and whenever possible profits are returned to ensure our communities have accessible communication.

Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility is committed to create a barrier-free environment for our staff, clients and visitors.
