Vestibular Clinic

Feeling unsteady on your feet?

Having trouble with your balance can be scary—the first spells of dizziness, falling, and worrying about how to get up and down the stairs can impact your confidence in getting around your home.

Balance problems are often linked to our vestibular system, which is located in the inner ear. The vestibular system, along with our body and brain, helps coordinate our movements in space and can keep us safe on our feet.

If you are experiencing dizziness, vertigo, and balance problems, our audiologists can help determine if these symptoms are related to vestibular dysfunction.

At Wavefront Centre, our vestibular assessment will help you understand why you’re unsteady on your feet and what you need to help your balance improve.

Where can I find a vestibular clinic near me?

Your ears do a lot more than just hear! The auditory and vestibular systems work hard to make sure you stay balanced, and if you’re struggling to stay steady on your feet, that feeling of unsteadiness can be scary to deal with.

At Wavefront Centre, our balance screenings will help you understand why you’re unsteady on your feet and what you need to help your hearing and balance improve.

What can I expect during a vestibular assessment?

During your vestibular assessment and testing, we’ll review d your medical history and symptoms to understand a bit more about you and your health. Then, while wearing specialized goggles, you’ll be asked to perform a series of tasks, such as following a random moving light with your eyes or moving your head or body in certain positions. These tests determine how well your “balance sensors” are working and if your symptoms are related to the inner ear.

After the tests have concluded, we’ll talk with you about the next steps, including any treatment options or additional recommendations.

Are balance disorders exclusively related to inner ear issues?

Not always. Some balance issues can be caused by other factors, neurological conditions, autoimmune diseases, head injuries, and aging.

Nevertheless, we’re happy to determine if an inner ear issue is contribuing to your difficulties and see what we can do to help.
