A shared meal can be the start of a new friendship. Wavefront Centre’s Social Meals program brings seniors who are Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing together to enjoy good food, share experiences and connect in a welcoming, accessible setting.
Held monthly at Wavefront Centre’s Mount Pleasant location (2005 Quebec Street), these gatherings offer an opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new people.
Alongside lunch, participants enjoy games, activities and plenty of conversation and laughter.
A Place at the Table for Everyone
Accessibility is at the heart of every Social Meal. Thoughtful seating, clear sightlines and lighting help keep faces and hands visible, while ASL interpreters, Deaf interpreters, DeafBlind intervenors and captioning support participation.
Our staff and accessibility teams help create a space where participants can communicate in ways that work for them and feel part of the community.
Building Community Together
With generous support from United Way British Columbia and the generosity of our community, Social Meals create regular opportunities for connection and belonging.
Whether you’re a returning guest or joining us for the first time, we look forward to welcoming you to the table.
