Youth leadership and community generosity come together in support of accessibility

Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility was honoured to be selected as the fundraising recipient of the Vancouver Pioneer LEO Club Charity Gala, held on May 30, 2026, at Continental Seafood Restaurant in Richmond, BC.

The event brought together more than 300 community members, families, volunteers, and supporters to celebrate youth leadership, community service, and philanthropy. Through ticket sales, a prize raffle, and other fundraising activities, the Vancouver Pioneer LEO Club raised an impressive $8,000 in support of Wavefront Centre’s work advancing communication accessibility for people who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing.

The evening featured a vibrant program of cultural performances, including musicians, dancers, and student entertainers whose talent and generosity helped create an engaging and memorable experience for guests.

Every dollar raised will help strengthen communication accessibility and create more opportunities for connection, inclusion, and belonging.”

“This partnership gave our members an opportunity to learn more about communication accessibility and the experiences of people who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing,” said Alex Zhang, President of the Vancouver Pioneer Leo Club. “We are proud to support Wavefront Centre and its important work. Through events like this, our students gain valuable leadership experience while making a meaningful contribution to creating a more inclusive and accessible community.”
