Frequently Asked Questions

Here’s some FAQs we get asked about your first visit to Wavefront Centre:

What Happens When I Arrive at Wavefront Centre?

If you have scheduled your appointment at our Mt. Pleasant location, our receptionist will direct you to our hearing clinic. At our Kitsilano or Port Coquitlam offices, you’ll be welcomed in by one of our client services coordinators, and they’ll check you in for your appointment.

You will be asked to complete a short questionnaire. After your paperwork is complete, one of our hearing care clinicians will escort you to where you will begin your consultation/appointment.

What Happens During My Hearing Assessment?

Your comprehensive hearing assessment begins with a conversation about you. We’ll chat with you about what you’ve been struggling with and get some information about your health and ear history. We’ll check for any earwax blockages before proceeding with the assessment. We’ll then take you through a range of tests to help you and us understand your current range of hearing. These tests involve listening for various beeps and responding when you hear them, even if they are very soft.

We’ll also test how well you understand words and sentences in background noise. Together we will review your results on the same day and walk you through the next steps, whether that’s a routine re-evaluation in the future, assistive technology, introduction to different communication strategies, or any other services that may be available to you.

How Long Is a Comprehensive Hearing Assessment?

Your hearing test will take approximately an hour and a half to complete, including a discussion about recommendations.

What If I Need to Cancel My Appointment?

If you need to cancel your appointment for any reason, then please contact the location your appointment is scheduled with at the earliest convenience.

We can’t wait to meet you, and we look forward to being your partner in the journey to better hearing!
